It can be a bit unfortunate to be a seafood lover living in Czech Republic,  a landlocked country, don’t you think? We recently found a solution for our seafood cravings, however, and that is Osteria Da Clara, a lovely family run Italian restaurant with delicious food focusing especially on fresh seafood. Dining there was a great culinary experience for us. We were absolutely taken aback by how authentic and tasty the food was.

We started with homemade bread, olive oil and a plate for 2 of a delicious appetizer sampler. For our main dish, we ordered grilled seabass and tagliatelle with seafood. The freshness of the fish, clams, shrimp and octopus was outstanding and both dishes were beautifully presented.  Tragically, we did not have any room left for dessert. Next time we will probably skip the starter and instead sample some of their delicious desserts.

We found the dining room quite small, romantic and secluded. Definitely not a normal tourist location. You are likely to need a taxi to take you there. If you prefer to use public transport, you just need to get onto the popular tram no. 22, get off at the stop Ruská and walk a bit to get there. Bare in mind that the place is small and very popular among locals, so call ahead to book a table.

When you get seated you will be asked to go to check the blackboard. As their mains change every day, there is a menu only for starters and desserts. You will surely be pleased with the daily selection based on fresh ingredients. If you are seafood lovers like us, head for Da Clara on Wednesdays or Fridays as they get fresh seafood delivery on these days.

The service was attentive, friendly and very knowledgeable. The price was reasonable for the quality of the food, wine and service. For starter, main and bottle of wine we paid 1055 CZK.

If you are Italian food lover, this place should be on your list of must-visit restaurants in Prague.
