OBYČEJNÝ SVĚT: A TRADITIONAL CZECH PUB

Bety

If you just want to experience a traditional, hearty Czech pub, or slightly more elevated version of it, you should try hospůdka Obyčejný svět. Hospůdka is a little pub in Czech. It has a large selection of beers on tap, both light and dark. We tried the honey beer Kvasar, and it was delicious. One big advantage of this restaurant is its diverse menu - local flavour and a neighborhood gem. We ordered honey pork ribs, which were amazing and came with a mildly spicy, sweet and sour sauce and a goat cheese salad. The ribs were cooked perfectly and we can really recommend it. From Monday to Friday you can order from the “lunch menu” which offers quite cheap and quicker meals. The restaurant is usually pretty full, so if you are visiting with a larger group, it is better to make a reservation.

When you are there, take a moment and read the history of the restaurant in the menu. You will read about the role the pub played in Czech history. For example, one Hussite Captain got too drunk and did not have money to pay, so they locked him in the cellar. Therefore, Hussites lost an important battle at Lipani. Or that Rabin Loew the father of legendary clay man - Golem, borrowed clay from the owners of the pub during its reconstruction for unknown reasons.

Final note from us: Great atmosphere, great food & beer, and a place where locals eat too!!!
